Introducing Tap to Pay for Big Cartel’s iPhone and Android apps! Sellers on paid plans can use our mobile apps to accept payments more easily without relying solely on cash or needing an external card reader.

We’ve also made improvements to the in-person checkout experience that makes it easier to:

  • see which products were added to the cart

  • add multiple quantities of a variant to the cart when selecting

  • add a customer’s email address for receipts

Shipping Labels now available for Canada

For paid sellers that ship from Canada, you can now create and print shipping labels directly from your Big Cartel admin. The best part? Save up to 90% in shipping costs!

Abandoned Cart Recovery

Did you know that over 65% of shoppers that start a checkout end up abandoning their process and never complete it? Abandoned Cart Recovery emails are an industry best practice that have shown to recover 3-14% of these carts.

Abandoned cart recovery is a new Big Cartel feature that enables an important way to boost your sales: it’s a series of automated messages sent to customers who have added items to their cart, partially completed checkout, but haven't completed their purchase. These emails serve as friendly reminders that encourage your customers to return and complete payment — ultimately helping to recover abandoned carts and checkouts.

On our Diamond plan already? You can turn this feature on with a simple checkbox in your shop preferences.

Redesigned shop email templates

Talk about a glow up! We’ve redesigned all of the email templates used for our seller's shops — including order receipts and shipping notifications. These new designs are clean, modern, friendlier on mobile devices, and provides more information to your customers about their orders. All shops immediately benefit from this with no opt-in or change required.

Improvements to shipping tracking

All plans

We've improved the order shipment process for manually added shipping details, including notifications to customers with tracking information. This update especially benefits our international sellers. Improvements include:

  • Added 18 new carriers

  • Based on your shop’s account country, we recommend certain carriers as "top" carriers which will more commonly match what they are looking for. Previously we were always recommending USPS, UPS and Fedex only.

  • Optimized the workflow to make it faster and less error-prone

Express Checkout for Stripe

All plans

We’ve added express checkout for shops using Stripe as their payment processor. Express checkout allows your customers to quickly complete their purchase by skipping billing and shipping information, leading to higher conversion rates and increased sales. Express checkout works with Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Stripe Link.
