New: Automatic Discounts

We’re making it easier for your customers to save with automatic discounts! Now, when you create a discount, you’ll see an option to make it automatic—meaning it will apply directly at checkout without the buyer needing to remember to add a code!

Here’s how it works: our system will automatically check for any active automatic discounts and apply the best one for your customer at checkout. This ensures they always get the highest-value discount available, with no extra steps. You can customize your discounting strategy with a mix of automatic and manual codes, and your customers can still swap out an automatically applied code for a better manual code if they prefer.

On our Diamond plan already? You can create new automatic discounts or convert existing discount codes to automatic by editing them in the discounts section of your shop admin.

Improvement: Single-use discount codes

You asked, we listened! Now you can restrict your discount codes to one use per customer (based on email address). We’ve also included a detector for people trying to use the “+” trick to reduce abuse.

This will come in super handy for creating new subscriber discounts or flash sales and works for all coupon types!

Bring a little extra fun to your shop with our newest FREE shop enhancement, Shop Sprinkles! This setting in the shop designer lets you select the emoji of your choice to sprinkle gently down the screen on your shop.

New: Reach more customers with Google Shopping

We’re excited to announce our new integration with Google Shopping!

This feature automatically verifies and syncs your store with Google Merchant Center, allowing your products to be listed for free on Google Shopping. Effortlessly reach new customers and boost traffic to your shop – just connect and watch your products appear in relevant Google search results!

Plus, once connected, you’ll have the ability to run paid ads on Google to further promote your products. These ads, which you manage directly in Google Merchant Center, offer even more opportunities to reach potential customers.

App Center

We added a new App Center to showcase all of our apps and integrations available to Big Cartel sellers. Each app includes a dedicated page that helps walk through setup and key features. Many apps now offer simple one-click installations, making it easier than ever to get started!

We’ve also added new apps for DropInBlog, Chatway, Common Ninja for our sellers on paid plans.

Introducing Tap-to-Pay & improvements to in-person checkout

Introducing Tap to Pay for Big Cartel’s iPhone and Android apps! Sellers on paid plans can use our mobile apps to accept payments more easily without relying solely on cash or needing an external card reader.

We’ve also made improvements to the in-person checkout experience that makes it easier to:

see which products were added to the cart
add multiple quantities of a variant to the cart when selecting
add a customer’s email address for receipts

Shipping Labels now available for Canada

New & improved table view for products

We released a new enhanced product table view for all sellers. This table view gives you the ability to sort, filter, and directly edit product details without having to navigate to each individual product.

Abandoned Cart Recovery

Did you know that over 65% of shoppers that start a checkout end up abandoning their process and never complete it? Abandoned Cart Recovery emails are an industry best practice that have shown to recover 3-14% of these carts.

Abandoned cart recovery is a new Big Cartel feature that enables an important way to boost your sales: it’s a series of automated messages sent to customers who have added items to their cart, partially completed checkout, but haven't completed their purchase. These emails serve as friendly reminders that encourage your customers to return and complete payment — ultimately helping to recover abandoned carts and checkouts.

On our Diamond plan already? You can turn this feature on with a simple checkbox in your shop preferences.
