We’re rolling out exciting improvements across all Big Cartel shop templates! These updates will help you showcase your products, customize your shop’s look, and provide a more engaging shopping experience for your customers.

To get these new features, you’ll need to update to the latest version of your shop’s template. Head to Shop Designer in your admin to update your template.

Key Enhancements for All Themes

Limited Inventory Messaging

Automatically show urgency messages for low-stock items to boost conversions. Your templates have new settings to control how and when this shows up, including the specific messaging. Learn more in our help center.

Improved Related Products Setting

We’ve expanded our “Related Products” setting on products pages to all templates. We’ve redesigned the logic so it prioritizes products in the same category, but will now also pull in products from the rest of your catalog. Adjust the header, product count, and sorting to your liking. Learn more in our Help center.

New Style Presets

We’ve redesigned our template style presets into 5 new categories: Classic, Bold, Playful, Earthy, and Dreamy. Whether you’re new to Big Cartel, or have an established shop, this is a way to style your shop with a differentiated, beautiful look more quickly.

Expanded Social Links

We recently added support for Threads and Bluesky, and now we’re back with support for Twitch, Spotify, and LinkedIn.

Custom Footer Text

Many sellers have requested the ability to add custom footer text without editing complex template code. Wish granted! You can now add custom text (like copyright info, slogan and more!) to your footer without touching any code.

Additional Features in Select Templates

Featured Categories on Homepage

Now available on Cosmos and Foundry templates: choose how categories display on your homepage with thumbnail or text options. This allows you to feature categories more prominently.

Welcome Button Customization

Control your homepage welcome button’s behavior on Netizen and Foundry templates. You can control whether it goes directly to your All Products page, or scrolls down with a smooth animation to your featured section on your homepage.

Additional Improvements

• Support for longer announcements and maintenance messages on most templates

• Various have had their footers improved with addition of categories and improvements in layout.

• All templates with a slideshow capability now have autoplay enabled by default
